Habitat for Humanity International brings families and communities in need together with volunteers and resources to build decent, affordable houses.
Prison Partnership

Since 2001, female prisoners from the Linda Woodman State Jail have volunteered weekly on Waco Habitat construction sites. Their participation ---  now at 3 days a week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday --- has allowed Waco Habitat to build more homes. The prisoners provide valuable weekday assistance while learning useful skills in a supportive environment. The Prison Partnership program was designed by Habitat for Humanity International and facilitates a cooperative effort between Habitat for Humanity affiliates and correctional institutions. Photos

Waco Habitat needs meal providers for the Prisoner Partnership.   If you / your organization can provide lunch for 15-20 people on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (please email us.)  Thank you to our regular providers: Lake Shore Baptist Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, and Robinson Church of Christ, Bess Tucker, Extraco, and the American Business Women's Association.  Click here for a flyer.

Since 2000, female prisoners from the Linda Woodman State Jail in Gatesville have helped out weekly on Waco Habitat construction sites.

In recognition of the prisoners' contributions to Waco Habitat, the first Prison Partnership House was built in 2006.
