Getting Involved

Want to Join Baylor Habitat?

Weekly meetings are held every Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 PM in Bennett Auditorium (which is inside Draper). Members are required to attend at least 8 meetings during the semester. Everyone is welcome!

To become a member, we require that you complete a total of 13 work hours during the semester. 10 of these are "external" hours, and typically involve working at a Habitat house worksite. The other two hours are "internal", and can be gotten by, e.g., taking pictures at worksite, donating cans for recycling, or working at Habitat fundraisers. The on-site workdays and other work opportunities are flexible, and we try to accommodate a variety of schedules.

Dues are $25 for the semester. If you pay $50 for a full year membership, you get a free t-shirt!

FAQs

Do I have to have a car?
No. We typically have people willing to carpool to the work sites. However... we seem to have fewer people with cars this semester than normal. So if you do have a car, we would love it if you could help out.

It's a month into the semester. Can I still join?
We usually accept new members up until the 5th or 6th meeting from the end of the semester.

There aren't seven meetings left in the semester. What now?
Why did you wait so long? We might be able to work with you. Come talk to us after a meeting or drop us an email.

I'd like to join, but I'm busy Wednesday nights, and can't make it to the meetings. What should I do?
Drop us an email - we can probably work something out.

I have absolutely no construction experience. Can I still join?
Yes! In fact, most of our members have no prior construction experience before they join.

But... when I pick up a hammer, it's regarded as a harbinger of mass chaos!
Don't worry. We have non-construction volunteer opportunities, too.
